Pelere Group Limited manufactures and markets detergents, cosmetics and personal care products made from the shea nut, butter, oil and others. It produces both bulk Nilotica Shea butter for export and line of premium quality branded products (Pelere Sheabutter, Embrace Sheabutter, Yonja Homecare and toiletries). The Company was founded in 2012 and is a Social Impact Enterprise. Its business adds value to the Shea Tree Fruits while protecting the trees and environment, impacting the lives of the rural communities.

 

We are looking for a qualified, experienced and result oriented professional to fill the following vacancy.

Job Title: Assistant Senior Accountant 
Reports to: Head of Finance and Accounts
Department: Finance and Accounts

JOB PURPOSE: To provide full time support to the Accountant head in completing basic bookkeeping, clerical and accounting tasks for the company.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides financial information to accountant head by researching and analyzing accounting data; preparing reports.
  • Working alongside with team of Assistant accountant on reporting daily data of company.
  • Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
  • Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options.
  • Summarizes current financial status by collecting information.
  • Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents.
  • Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
  • Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions.
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
  • Secures financial information by completing database backups.
  • Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
  • Prepares payments by verifying documentation, and requesting disbursements.
  • Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations.
  • Complies Uganda and beyond financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
  • Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Devising actionable strategies from customer insights.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

You have degree in accounting and finance or related field. With prior experience in accounting and finance within a similar role of over 5 years.

  • Professional Certification Such as Certified Public Accountant of Uganda -ICPA OR Association of Chartered Certified Accountants(ACCA).
  • Knowledge of internal controls.
  • Good understanding of a number of financial reporting frameworks and auditing standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to details.
  • Teamwork and team leadership.
  • Strong communication. report writing & presentation skills.
  • Highly flexible, proactive and responsive to effectively work in a constantly changing business environment.
  • Ability to learn and adopt to accounting packages and ERP systems.
